With your Altadena Library card, you have access to much more than just books! If you are a library cardholder with Good Neighbor account status (cardholder for more than 21 days, no outstanding fees, and a history of returning materials) you can check out the following items (and more!) for 7 days with up to two renewals. Need remote access to a computer for your next project? The Library of Things carries laptops that are available for checkout.
WI-FI HOTSPOTS
Access the Internet from anywhere with our Wi-Fi hotspots! With these hotspots, you can access the internet from your computer, mobile device, or tablet.
TELESCOPES
Have you ever wondered what planets you can see from your own backyard? Now you can find out with our take-home telescope. The telescope comes with an astronomy resource guide, a magnification chart to help you adjust the telescope’s eyepiece, and an instruction manual to help guide your journey to the stars. Throw a “Star Party” and connect with friends and neighbors as you see the skies in a whole new way!
SEWING MACHINES
Whether you’re learning how to mend clothes or designing the next hot fashion line, our sewing machine kits come equipped with guides for every step of the way, from threading the needle to winding the bobbin. The Operation Manual comes in both English and Spanish.
BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORS
Check your systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate with a blood pressure monitor. Donated by Huntington Health and the American Heart Association.
AIR QUALITY MONITORS
Check out your local indoor and outdoor air quality with Temtop Air Quality Monitors and EcoBlu digital radon gas monitors. Radon gas monitors donated by the California Department of Public Health Indoor Radon Program.
PLAYAWAY LAUNCHPADS
Pre-loaded learning tablets at a variety of levels. Every app, storybook, and video has been hand-selected to help kids and teens gain the knowledge they need to learn valuable reading, math, and test prep skills.
MENTAL HEALTH KITS
Mental health kits for adults, teens, and children. This collection of wellness materials and supplies was made available with support from Direct Relief to promote community health and well-being in the aftermath of the Eaton Fire.
CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY PARKS PASSES
In partnership with the First Partner’s Office and the California State Library, State Parks Passes provide free vehicle day-use entry to over 200 participating state park sites operated by State Parks to library-card holders.

HIKING BACKPACKS
Equipped with custom trail guides created in partnership with the Altadena Historical Society, maps, wildflower guides, native species guides, a flashlight, first aid kit, and more, you’ll be able to navigate even challenging trails and enjoy Altadena nature with a whole new perspective.
