Community Women Vital Voices and the Altadena Library, in partnership with cityLAB-UCLA, invite you to The Black Legacy Voice Echoes Our Truth: Pasadena/Altadena Community, on view at the Bob Lucas Memorial Library from October 12–31, 2025. Please join us for the opening reception on Sunday, October 12, 3–5 PM.

Our beloved branch opens after a 16-month renovation that included a 1,000-sq-ft expansion that adds about 50% more space, including a children’s area and a new literacy center, which includes a classroom and tutoring rooms. The facility also has a new roof, upgraded electrical and mechanical systems, an outdoor reading garden, and is fully accessible for all Altadena.
Altadena Poets Laureate Lester Graves Lennon and Sehba Sarwar have been honored by the Academy of American Poets as 2025 Poet Laureate Fellows, along with 21 other poets laureate serving communities across the country.
