Using the Library After School

The Altadena Library is a great place to find fun activities and lots of things to read after school. However, here are a few tips and rules for using the Library after school.

  • The Library’s Unaccompanied Child policy stipulates that children aged 9 and under must be at the library with a caretaker who is over 14 years old. If you are 9 and under, you must have a grown up at the library with you at all times. This includes during movies, programs, and other events.
  • Anyone who is 10 or older and who is at the Library on their own will be held responsible for their own actions and behaviors at the library and will be subject to the consequences of those actions. That means, if it’s warranted, a child at the Library on their own may be asked to leave the Library for the day.
  • The Library believes strongly in the right to privacy, and this extends to all of our patrons, regardless of age. As such, the Library is unable to give out information on a patron’s whereabouts or library usage habits to anyone who calls on the phone or who comes in asking about a particular patron.
