Welcome to the Altadena Main Library!

Built in the 1960s by famed architect Boyd Georgi, this mid-century modern library serves Altadena with over 55,000 books for all levels, movies, music, and other media, computers, meeting space, community gatherings like concerts, and educational programs.

Is the Main Library the only library branch within the Altadena Library District?

No! The Bob Lucas Memorial Library & Literacy Center is also part of the Altadena Library District.

Where is the Passport Office at the Main Library?

The entrance to the Passport Office is located at the parking lot level, in the far end of the parking lot, on the corner of the building diagonal to our parking lot Pocket Park.

May we return items from the Bob Lucas Library to the Main Library?

Yes. Books, DVDs, and other items checked out from either the Altadena Main Library or Bob Lucas Branch maybe returned at either location. We do not accept items from Pasadena libraries.

Can we have books from the Bob Lucas Memorial Library brought over the Main Library for check-out?

Yes, we can place books on hold for you from either location. It takes approximately 24 business hours to transfer items.

Does the Main Library offer printing? Copying? Faxing?

Yes. Printing and copying in black and white is 15 cents per page, 30 cents double-sided. Printing and copying in coloring are 50 cents per page, $1 double-sided. Faxing is 50 cents per page.
