Through the Altadena Library District’s monthly podcast called This is Altadena (available on iTunes Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere you consume podcasts), we celebrate the stories and people that make up our unique community. We are also happy to share recordings of our previous live Hidden Histories events and interviews.

On Sunday, August 25, 2019, members of the Altadena community gathered at the Bob Lucas Memorial Branch to hear the stories of long-time Black, Latinx, and Japanese-American Altadena residents Letitia Wright, Shirley Ward, Cindy Guzman, Bob Kikkawa, and Itsy Ota.

On Sunday, February 23, 2020, members of the Altadena community gathered at the Altadena Seventh-day Adventist Church to hear the stories of long-time residents Michael Mims and Gwendolyn McMullins.

The Altadena Historical Society (AHS) began collecting oral histories back in the days of audio tapes to record the personal recollections of longtime Altadenans for future generations. Their collection includes fascinating first-person written accounts of Altadena life.
