A zine is a photocopied, homemade magazine. The first popular zine, a science fiction fanzine called The Comet, was published in 1930. Zines started to gain a lot of momentum during the countercultural movements of the 1960s and ’70s, and in the punk music underground of the 1980s and ’90s. That momentum hasn’t died down, as zinesters have been active for decades. The Altadena Libraries are proud to announce the addition of a special zine collection to our offerings! Now available in our catalog are zines that you can check out and enjoy from home!
