"GO PUBLIC" Screening & Panel w/ PUSD Superintendent

GO PUBLIC: A Day in the Life of an American School District is a 90-minute documentary of one entire day in the Pasadena Unified School District. Public education is a privilege and a right available to everyone in our country and 90% of the nations' children attend public school. GO PUBLIC provides a window into the world of PUSD, the many dedicated people, the myriad of opportunities available and the complexity of effectively serving the needs of all students. The panel discussion immediately following the screening will feature the film's producers James O'Keeffe, Dawn O'Keeffe and PUSD Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald.


James O'Keeffe is a Director/Cinematographer and co-owner of Blue Field Productions with over 30 years of experience in theatrical, documentary, commercial, promotional and educational programs in both film and digital. He recently directed a 12-part narrative series set in 1st century Palestine and was the cinematographer on Brace for Impact: The Sully Sullenberger Story for TLC.

 

Dawn O'Keeffe started her career as a news producer at the ABC station in Santa Barbara. She spent several years producing a weekly series and specials for Lifetime Television, filming throughout the US. As a freelance producer/writer, her jobs included a stint in the NBC investigative unit producing stories for KNBC, "The Today Show," and "Fightback with David Horowitz." Dawn is co-owner of Blue Field Productions working as a producer. She is the mother of four children, all of whom have attended public school in Pasadena. She is on the board of the Pasadena Educational Foundation and is a founding member of Invest in PUSD Kids. She received her B.A. in English Literature and Business/Economics from Westmont College with additional training in production from Stanford University.

 

Brian McDonald, Ed.D. is Superintendent of the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD). As the chief executive officer of the 18,000-student district that serves the communities of Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre, Dr. McDonald is responsible for the academic and operational management of the district.
