REGISTRATION
Fill out a Library Card Application and bring it to the Circulation desk. Proof of identification is required. Two sources of identification are required including a picture ID and verification of current address.

SUITABLE ID

• Current drivers license or ID card.
• Checkbook or bankbook.
• Current printed bill.
• Current canceled envelope.
• Escrow papers or rental receipt.

POST OFFICE BOX
Library card applicants must show proof of a residential address before a post office box can be used as a mailing address.

CHILDREN'S CARDS
Children under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application.

LOST CARDS
Lost/damaged cards may be replaced for a $2.00 replacement charge with ID.

EXPIRED CARDS Borrowing information will be verified and your card renewed every 3 years.

LOAN PERIODS

• 21 DAYS--All items except videocassettes & DVDs
• 7 DAYS--Videocassettes & DVDs
• 6 WEEKS--Vacation loans available on request for all items except new books and Videos/DVDs

FINES

• $.25 per day for each adult item
• $.15 per day for each child's items
• $2.50 per day for each video/DVD

Maximum Overdue Charges

• $10.00 per each child's item
• $20.00 per each adult item or video/DVD

Fines in excess of the above amounts must be paid before the card can be re-used.

Avoid fines--Use the bookdrop! After Library hours you can use the outside bookdrop to return your materials. Please use the AV bookdrop at the Main library or the regular bookdrop at the Branch for audiovisual items. Materials returned in the bookdrop before opening the next day will be checked in as if they were returned on the previous day.

• Interlibrary loan material. Check the slip taped to the cover to see if renewable

RESERVES

Reserves can be placed on any circulating item except Friends Rental DVDs. Pick up at the Checkout Desk.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Interlibrary loans allow Altadena Library cardholders to get materials from other libraries. CDs and DVDs are not available through this service. The process usually takes from one to four weeks. Up to 5 requests may be taken.
