Excess Fines 

No material may be checked out if fines exceed $5.00 on a child's card and $10.00 on an adult card. For more information about fines or to find out how to pay a fine online, please visit the "Borrowing Services" page. 

 

DVD Loan Policy

  1. Patrons must be 14 years or older and present a valid library card to borrow DVDs. Patrons aged 14-17 years also need a DVD Permission Form signed at the library by a parent or guardian.
  2. DVDs may be checked out for one week with 1 renewal if there is not a hold on the DVD. There is a limit of 10 at one time.
  3. The patron in whose name DVDs are loaned assumes complete financial responsibility for any damage or loss. The library reserves the right to determine the extent of damage and to assess cost for replacing the DVD. Patrons must supply home and/or business telephone number(s).
  4. Please notify the library if unavoidable circumstances prevent the prompt return of DVDs. There is a charge of $2.50 per day for each overdue DVD title. This charge begins the day after the DVD is due.
  5. The library is not responsible for determining audience suitability. 
  6. DVDs may be returned to the Altadena Library Circulation Desk or deposited in the outside audio/visual drop.
  7. The copyright proprietor has licensed the picture contained in the DVDs for private use only and prohibits any other use, copying, reproduction or performance in public, in whole or in part. Permission to telecast any title cannot be granted by the library and must be requested directly from the producer or distributor.
  8. DVDs shall not be shown at events where admission is charged for fundraising or commercial purposes.
  9. DVDs require careful handling; dirt, dust, and fingerprints cause picture deterioration.
  10. Please store DVDs in the container supplied and in an upright position.
  11. Also please keep the DVDs away from direct sunlight; heat will warp the containers.

 

 Video Game Rental Policy

  1. All video games check out for one week with 1 renewal if there is not a hold on the item. There is a limit of (2) at one time.
  2. Patrons, 14-17, need to have a Permission Form signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to check-out video games. These forms are available at the Circulation Desk.
  3. Games that  are rated “M” are for Mature (17+). The library is not responsible for determining audience suitability. Please review.
  4. There is a charge of $2.50 per day for each overdue video game with a maximum fine of $20.00. This charge begins the day after the game is due.
  5. If a patron has (1) video game overdue or lost he or she may not rent another video game until the game is returned or lost fees are paid in full.
  6. Video games may be returned to the Altadena Library Circulation Desk or deposited in the outside audio/visual drop.
